Piece of Confidence Gives Peace

Many people think that they know what and how self-confidence is, but can’t some of them succeed in this department. This is because they do not fully understand what self-confidence really is and know the proper and effective ways to improve it. Improving self-confidence is very much depending on one's own self. Moreover, the ways to improve self-confidence are easy if you have a strong will to follow and never give up. Hence, self-confidence can be improved through inner self by thinking positively, believing in yourself, setting realistic goals and learning.

Self-confidence is something that cannot be taught. It is up to the individual to decide how much belief that they possess inside of themselves. I am at the point where I realize that I must first believe in myself before others will believe in me. Nobody teaches us to be happy or sad. They are natural feelings that come along as we develop mentally, physically, emotionally and psychologically. When you get to the point where you allow others to dictate how you feel about life, you have to stop and take an internal survey. Ask yourself if your lack of self-confidence and self-assurance is holding you back from being the best that you can possibility be.

Self-confidence is a very useful and powerful tool for everyone to achieve goals and fulfill wishes. Everywhere you go and everything you do, self-confidence is needed for your accomplishments. You need to think positively by accepting and loving yourself. If you treat, judge or criticize yourself too cruel, you are lowering down your self-confidence. You should accept, be thankful upon what you have and feel proud of yourself. There is meaning and value beneath it. Then, you should love yourself by taking care of your health, relaxing, awarding yourself when you have done well and advising yourself if you failed. Hence, you are feeling happy, good and positive with yourself. That is, you have your self-esteem and self-confidence. You must not compare yourself with others because it is a bad habit where you will forget what is good about you as you comparing you poor criteria with others will put yourself at the weak end. As a result, you will lose.

If you pay attention, you might notice that these self-confident people usually are successful in every area of their lives. Is this because they are smarter? Or is it because they have more money? Maybe they are just lucky? The reality is that none of these things are true. Self-confident people understand the impact of believing in themselves and relying on their abilities. This confidence ultimately creates opportunities for success and with each new success, another self-confidence building block is put into place. Success builds self-confidence with each new achievement. Self-confident people perceive themselves as able to achieve those things they set out to do and this perception creates reality in their lives.

Choose two of those things that you want to improve in yourself. It’s important to succeed and by concentrating on the areas you are already good at you will have a better chance of becoming even surer of yourself. Remember that success builds upon success. Exude confidence even if you don’t feel like it. Talk to yourself in an encouraging way and stay away from negative thoughts and people as you can. Surround yourself with positive, confident, and successful people. This will become a habit and will build confidence.

The University of Illinois article notes that your parents may have instilled self-confidence in you by encouraging self-reliance and giving you love even when you made mistakes. If you did not have your parents' help, you can accomplish this yourself. Anthony Robbins states in his book, "Awaken the Giant Within," that developing his confidence comes from mastering his ability to feel certain that he really could achieve something. His rule is, "If I decide to be confident, then I'll feel that way toward anything, and my confidence will help me succeed." There are several strategies to overcoming those negative thoughts that keep you trapped in lack of confidence. The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign article cites four tips. First, emphasize strengths by giving yourself credit. Second, take risks by looking at new experiences as a chance to learn, not win or lose. Third, use self-talk by stopping in the middle of a negative thought, and reframing it with a positive thought or words. Fourth self-evaluation allows you to gain a stronger sense of self, and stop giving away your personal power to others.

Confidence is trust in ourselves: the knowledge, skills, and the value we are able to bring to a situation. True confidence is not bravado. It lies in genuine knowledge of who we are and is often built on a foundation of hard work. Confidence is infectious, which is why it is a key quality of leadership. Confidence gives us the courage to act, but sometimes it is bold action, even in the face of fear, that creates confidence.
